MSN Schools and Programs
A master's degree in nursing and master of science in nursing (MSN) provide graduates with a specialized education in various areas of nursing, management, and administration. With an MSN degree, you can work as a nurse practitioner, nurse anesthetist, clinical instructor, manager, or other specialty.
How to Earn an MSN
You will find several paths on your journey toward your masters in nursing.
- BSN to MSN right away
- BSN to MSN after nursing experience
- RN to BSN to MSN
- RN with a bachelor's degree in a non-nursing field to MSN
- Bachelor's degree in a non-nursing field to MSN (must follow clinical nursing classes to be able to qualify as an RN)
Several colleges and universities offer online nursing programs; this allows you to work and take course classes at the same time. If you plan to take online MSN courses, check with your state's board of nursing to make sure it recognizes your chosen program.
